In photos almost everyone picks the tallest doll. In practice it is the weight that decides whether you enjoy her daily or whether she stays in the wardrobe after a month. This article helps you choose a size that fits your home, your body and your habits.
Why 30 kilos feels heavier than 30 kilos
A 158 cm doll weighs around 30 kilos, a 166 cm model around 37. That sounds manageable — a full suitcase weighs 30 kilos too. The difference is that a suitcase has a handle and is rigid. A doll is limp: the weight hangs in arms, legs and torso and shifts the moment you lift her. You are not lifting 30 kilos, you are lifting 30 kilos that move away from you. Moving her is therefore more of an embrace than a grip, and stairs are a real obstacle.
The rule of thumb
Allow roughly half to seven tenths of a kilo per centimetre of height. Every extra ten centimetres therefore costs five to seven extra kilos. Below 32 kilos a doll remains easy to handle for most people; above 36 kilos lifting, dressing and showering become noticeable work. You can filter by weight on our category page.
Height in relation to yourself
A 158 cm doll is ideal for most men: tall enough to feel like an adult woman, small enough to lie next to you without taking half the bed. Models of 165 cm and taller feel more impressive, but you mainly notice it sitting and standing; lying down the difference is small.
Think about where she will be
Before you choose, walk the route: where will the parcel be delivered, how does the doll get to where she will stand, and where do you keep her during the day? Carrying a 37 kilo doll up a staircase is fine with two people and hard alone. If you live upstairs without a lift, a model under 32 kilos or a torso is a real advantage.
A torso as an alternative
A torso of 77 to 86 cm weighs 19 to 24 kilos and offers the same material and finish as a full doll. It is not a compromise in quality, but it is one in experience: there is no face and no arms or legs to position. For anyone short on space or unsure about the weight of a full doll, it is a sensible first step.
Our advice
When in doubt, choose the lighter model. Nobody has ever regretted a doll that was easy to move; plenty have regretted one that was too heavy. At the bottom of this article you find the lightest models in our range, shipped from stock.
